New managing director for Schmersal

Dr Andreas Hunscher has taken over the management of Schmersal Böhnke + Partner GmbH on june 1st 2016. In his new function he will continue to be responsible as director for Schmersal’s Wettenberg plant as well with its business units "safe signal evaluation” and "operating elements”.

Hunscher completed his doctorate at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum in electrical engineering and then worked in various management positions for about 15 years at a leading international automotive subcontractor and most recently as managing director in the European infotainment area. Before moving to Schmersal in May 2014, he was managing director of Langmatz GmbH, an innovative company in the infrastructure industry.

"The market for lifts and escalators is growing in Europe from year to year and this longstanding trend will continue in future too. Challenges are arising due to the shift in demand to markets outside Europe, the merging of classic mechanical and plant engineering with information technologies – Industry 4.0, digital business models – and the increasing demand for sophisticated service provision, intensive advice, tailor-made offers and complete system solutions,” explained Hunscher.

"My aim in this environment is to continue to expand the leading international position that Schmersal Böhnke + Partner has developed as a lift system manufacturer. We are well equipped for more growth with our new administration and production building in Obereschbach in Bergisch Gladbach.”
