VFA between orient and occident
The Asansör Fair in Istanbul/Turkey from 14 to 17 April 2011 was the interface between East and West with about 370 exhibitors. In terms of content the fair had little new to offer. There was a discernible trend to gearless lifts.

Innovations in LED lighting for lifts
Henning GmbH from Schwelm (Germany) has developed new product lines for lift cabin lighting with LEDs, which have considerable advantages compared to conventional LEDs. During the development of the pcbs great attention was paid to efficient current regulators and good heat dissipation into the housing; as a result, it was possible to achieve a considerable reduction in the thermal load.

13th International CAN Conference
In February this year 25 years had passed since the CAN protocol was first presented to the public during the SAE Conference in Detroit. On 5 March 2012 the international manufacturer and user association CAN in Automation (CiA) celebrated another anniversary: the 20th anniversary of CiA was celebrated with an evening event in Hambacher Schloss in Neustadt on the Weinstraße, where the 13th international CAN Conference (iCC) will also take place on 5 and 6 March 2012.

“Extra thin” fair innovation for Interlift 2011

At Interlift 2011 Riedl Aufzüge will be unveiling its new, extra thin telescopic sliding door. The product innovation with the catchy name “Liz” makes full use of the possibilities offered by the new regulation DIN EN 81-58 and reduces the door package width to a minimum of 136 mm from the cabin infeed (in the case of a Riedl lift) to the shaft wall.

Global escalator safety code changes in major markets around the world require the installation of deflector devices designed to reduce side step entrapments.

A3 from the point of view of the control maker

“A3” refers to the extension to EN 81-1, which in 2010 was integrated in the consolidated editions of EN 81-1 and 2. The transitional period expires on 31.12.2011. The new “UCM” requirement has created the most uncertainty.
