LIFTjournal 10th anniversary

This year there have already been so many changes worth mentioning that one piece of good tidings almost got left out: it’s the LIFTjournal’s birthday!

An attempt to develop an “electronic lift attendant”…

The following questions occurred before the development ‘What is an electronic lift attendant?’ Are there standards, ordinances, etc. that define the requirements? What is available on the market and does it fit in with the development approach? What advantages does the electronic lift attendant have? Does the electronic lift attendant replace the manual lift attendant?

Modernization of elevators

Buildings account for around 40 percent of energy consumption worldwide. Lighting, heating, elevators – building systems require large amounts of energy, especially when they are advanced in years. ThyssenKrupp Elevator has a broad portfolio of eco-efficient systems and components to assist customers in the sustainable modernization of their transportation systems

Operating and display panels

Lifts belong to the small group of electrical equipment for which no instruction manual is available. For this reason high demands are made on the operating and display panels. The lift users have to recognise intuitively what they have to do to call the lift, which pushbuttons they have to press in the car to navigate the lift to the requested floor and the display signal has to be so clear that they know in which floor they are and when they have to get out.

More convenience and safety in your own home

Homelift transforms your own four walls into a barrier-free home in old age: You usually only fulfil your dream of a home of your own once in a lifetime. Once you have the nerve-consuming building phase, the stressful move and complete furnishing of the family home behind you, you no longer wish to move and would prefer to enjoy the comfort and peace of your own home and garden until advanced old age.

Fire-tested landing doors

Thanks to the rapid increase in big logistics centres in the distribution structure of modern companies, conveyance technology is also becoming more important. Particularly in the case of trans-shipment centres with a small floor area in conurbations goods are also transported vertically. The new System F from Miller Aufzugtüren was developed especially for the separation of conveyance shafts in multistorey logistics centres. These are high quality fire-tested shaft landing doors with EC type-tested door lock mechanisms according to the Lift Directive.

Never again access problems with key safes

The nightmare of every operator: a key safe that cannot be opened, broken-off keys, iced or sticky cylinders or even lost keys. Tragic consequence: the service company cannot carry out any fault repair, the security service cannot do its job and the fire brigade cannot provide any help.

The interlift organiser AFAG is expecting further growth of the exhibition area of the world leading trade fair. The cause for this optimistic estimation is the current stand of the applications.

Market study on modernisation measures

Demographic change is creating permanent market potential for the manufacturers of stair lifts. This was one of the results of a new representative survey of 12,000 households, carried out by Heinze market research in 2012. Among other things, the study investigated what measures the modernisers carried out in the field of lifts and stair lifts.
