The industry has its eyes on Poland

At the end of October the trade fair centre in Kielce, one of the biggest and most modern event locations in Poland, will be opening its doors for the third time for the Euro-Lift. Foreign companies regard Poland as an attractive and highly promising market. This assessment is also evident from the fact that about 60% of the exhibitors will be from abroad. The event is the only one of its kind in Central and East Europe.

Vision – Meiller glass lift doors and portals

Today glass lifts can be found in a great many modern buildings. Glass lifts are increasingly also preferred for retrospective installation in existing buildings, especially old ones. The transparent car provides the lift passengers with interesting visual perspectives while gliding past the floors and in addition provides a feeling of safety. The lift has become a formative element of the architecture.

High performance lifts in Kingdom Tower, Jeddah

The highest lifts in the world – for the highest building in the world
Kone is installing the highest lifts ever built in the first building worldwide to reach the magical height of 1 km. The double-decker lifts in the 1,007 m high Kingdom Tower will reach the unprecedented conveyance height of 660 m. This has been made possible by the drive belts developed by Kone, which take the place of conventional steel cables. The seven two-floor lifts with a maximum speed of over 10 m/s (36 km/h) will be the fastest lifts of this type in the world. Kone will install a total of 65 lifts and escalators in the Kingdom Tower.

Lift suited-up

Apart from technical maintenance, it is energy consumption and general maintenance that determine the operating costs and lasting value of a lift. One can conserve these two budgets – with innovations introduced to the German market by a company from Obersulm in southern Germany. These include Kapok 88, the “suit for the lift,” a quickly deployable protective cladding for lift cars, which protects the expensive interior against damage and scratches.

Up to now it has usually been price alone that was decisive when property owners chose a lift company.
