Lift technology is increasingly becoming part of the logistics within the building and of urban mobility from building to building. The Lift Congress 2016 took up the subjects of urban mobility, future city and modern buildings all the way to barrier freedom.

The Lift Congress 2018 is once again to be interdisciplinary in conception. It will range from international standards and the work of international associations to technology.

The title of the Congress is "Setting out for new worlds" and will focus on the following main subjects:
• international standards
• preventive maintenance
• dynamic processes
• flows of people and material within and to buildings
• IT security
• excursion to the testing tower in Rottweil.

HandwerkThe meeting will be introduced with a talk by Esfandiar Gharibaan, CEN/TC 10 Chairman, on the current state of international technical standards.

This will be followed by a talk by Roberto Zappa, the new President of the European Lift Association, on "Training and digitalisation – challenges for the lift industry."

Visit to testing tower in Rottweil

At the invitation of thyssenkrupp Elevator, the Lift Congress will spend the entire afternoon of the first day at the testing tower in Rottweil. The idea is to make lightweight construction and the latest lift technology tangible and understandable. The technology of the testing tower and of the rope and ropeless lift systems Twin and Multi will be presented in detail and demonstrated in experiments in six stations.

Among other things, the next day will focus on digitalisation – for example, in the talks by Sachar Paulus, managing director of Paulus.consult, about "Industry 4.0 – security of data and information" and by Tim Eblling, the head of research and development of Henning GmbH, about "Lifts in the cloud – strategies, algorithms" or by Teppo Voutilainen, the head of new concepts and systems of Kone GmbH in Finland on "People flows in smart buildings."

Discussion platform of the European lift industry

HandwerkThe congress is organised by the Technische Akademie Heilbronn. It is ideel supported by the European Lift Association ELA, the German manufacturer associations VDMA, VFA and the Association of Technical Monitoring Associations VdTÜV.

The Technische Akademie Heilbronn has been staging the European Lift Congress since 2005. It takes place very two years alternately to the interlift and has established itself as the discussion platform of the European lift industry. Professor Wolfram Vogel is responsible for its conception and management.
