New: frequency inverters especially for lifts

News

Gefran presented its new series of ADL500 inverters for elevator technology for the first time at this year's Interlift.

The series includes inverters for high-rise buildings (ADL550), multi-storey buildings (ADL530) and low height buildings (ADL510). All inverters are EN81-20/EN81-50 certified and feature innovative safety features and a position control algorithm for precise floor leveling in high-speed elevators, the company explained. In addition, Gefran also equipped the inverters with a comprehensive package of energy-saving measures and safety functions.

In addition to the Safe Torque Off SIL3 already known from the predecessors of the ADL300 series, the ADL500 series inverters also feature the "Safe Brake Test" (SBT) and "Safe Brake Control" (SBC) safety functions. These new functions control the status of the motor brakes to prevent unintentional motor movements.

Environmentally friendly elevators

In addition to classic energy recovery for elevators, the package of energy-saving measures also includes the extended stand-by function. It places the inverter in standby mode during breaks in travel in order to reduce the energy loss to a minimum.

Another energy-saving measure is recovering braking energy by exploiting the inertial energy of the car using batteries or SuperCaps instead of classic braking resistors.

Remote monitoring made easy

Web applications such as GF_Liftouch and GF_DriveLab allow remote access (remote control) to the inverters via smartphone and tablet. With GF_Liftouch, the maintenance technician can perform operations such as start-up, monitoring, tuning, alarm checking or general communication with the inverter via a Wi-Fi connection, either on site or via the Internet.

Access rights can be restricted depending on the technician's qualifications. The GF_DriveLab tool can be used to troubleshoot and monitor the drive, download configurations and set parameters from a remote service centre. In this way, a technician present on site can be supported in real time or a technician called for help can be prepared for the fault on site. This minimizes the downtime of the affected elevator.
