Yaskawa: "Best in Class Products and Solutions"

News

At the Interlift 2017 Yaskawa presented itself as a solution provider for lift manufacturers, system integrators and control builders under the motto "Best in Class Products and Solutions for the Lift Industry."

The company supplies frequency converters and motors for new construction, conversions or modernisations of lifts and escalators, but also Motoman robots for the production of lift components.

This year the subjects networking and user-friendliness were especially in in focus. For example, Yaskawa relies systematically on the communication field bus "CANopen Lift" and the DCP4 protocol. In this way, components can be wired with less expense and the lift builder needs fewer signals in the shaft. Remote maintenance options exist with the teleservice of VIPA Controls.

Energy efficiency through energetic recovery

The advantage of the lift-specific drive packages is the uniform technical coordination of all components with each other. Installation and commissioning are therefore also far more efficient during retrofitting. Drive packages for gearless rope lifts combine the lift-specific frequency converter L1000A with motor models and suitable accessories. Putting these commissioned packages into operation could not be simpler using the PM-Play library implemented with preset parameter sets.

Solutions for the energy-efficient operation of lifts and escalators will be a major feature at Yaskawa’s interlift stand: for example, the U1000 matrix converter is a highly efficient regenerative cycloconverter (without intermediate circuit) for driving asynchronous and permanent magnet motors with or without speed sensor.

Due to its special topology, the U1000 is capable of direct regeneration and the space needed for an additional regenerative unit is not needed. Feedback of generative energy to the grid makes it available to other consumers in the building, for example for the lighting and does not have to be drawn from the grid.

Robot-based production of lift cars

Two Motoman industrial robots could also be seen at the Yaskawa trade fair. A Motoman MH225 is representative of the wide range of handling robots, which can handle, process and assemble every lift component from a few grams to 600 kg. Yaskawa underlines its expertise in welding with the Motoman MA2010. As a result, commissioned steel structures – such as girder bearings - can be welded.

This industry-wide product range of drive and control technology and robotics to Vipa automation systems permit technically uniform overall solutions from one source - from standard application to customised complex systems.
